Major Accomplishment
When we first began work on our first title, Doodle Dash!, it’s no secret that our target keyword was “doodle” because of the popularity of that search term in the AppStore. Of course, there were endless pages of apps with “Doodle” in the title. Despite that, however, we decided to go for it anyway to see what would happen.
Fast forward to today.
Biffy just typed...

Doodle Dash! Gets Positive Review from... →
We were pleasantly surprised after Biffy searched ‘Doodle Dash!’ on Google and found an article on Doodle Dash! giving it a very positive review.
So big thanks @Examiner.com!

Doodle Dash! Promotion Officially Over
The Doodle Dash! FGOTD promotion is officially over as of 5pm tonight and has gone back to paid status ($0.99) … It was a great run (at least 40,000+ new downloads).

1.3 Update is in the Works
Development has been temporarily paused for our new title’s we had in development in favor of working on the next update to Doodle Dash! (1.3)
With that said, we’re putting our heads together, really trying to make sure the “Halloween” update to Doodle Dash! comes out really great.
We want all the new Doodle Dash players to stay! (all 40,036 of you)
For a sneak peak,...

Dragon’s Keep made 27 sales yesterday… pretty good considering it just came out and we’ve really done no promotion yet (still waiting to hear back from the FGOTD folks).
Doodle Dash! is still on Top 25 Free (that is, until I put it back to paid status after 5pm tonight). We’re very curious to see how sales will do after it goes back to paid status. As of right now, there...

22,969 players on the Doodle Dash! Global Leaderboard… Wow. Can’t wait to see how well Dragon’s Keep and our upcoming titles do.

Two exciting titles in the works; one directed by Biffy and the other by Jonathan… more arcade-style/pick-up-and-play/addictive action!

15,000+ Doodle Dash! players on the OpenFeint Leaderboard!
Doodle Dash! is showing 9,893 players on the OpenFeint Leaderboard… It was at something like 29 players before the FGOTD promotion.
And still 3 and a half hours left in the promotion :-)
Well, about to check in for the night and the Doodle Dash! leaderboard is showing 4,239 players! That’s awesome, especially considering there is still 16 hours, 38 minutes left in the FGOTD promotion.

Interview with Ansca Mobile Published →
Ansca Mobile (the people behind Corona SDK) conducted an email interview with me (regarding my experiences using their SDK while programming Doodle Dash!) and it just went live today. Check it out, post comments, show your support!

The Doodle Dash! FGOTD promotion has only been going on for 3 hours and 18 minutes and is showing more than 2400+ new players in OpenFeint so far… and that’s just the people who clicked ‘Enable OpenFeint’ when they first install the game.
So far it’s a much better response than I expected, so hopefully post-promotion sales will also do really good. I’m keeping...

Doodle Dash! Featured on FGOTD Tonight →
OpenFeint’s FreeGameOfTheDay.com will feature Doodle Dash! starting tonight (26th) at 5pm PST to 5pm tomorrow (27th). It’ll be interesting to see what kind of effect this will have on sales after the promotion.
I’m also interested to see how many more ratings/reviews the game gets; as of right now, there are 19 (all 5-stars). When I looked at a handful of recent FGOTD apps,...

AppleInsider on Apple’s September 1, 2010 event:
Apple on Wednesday invited members of the media to its annual media-centric keynote, where it is expected to introduce new iPods and an updated Apple TV, set for Sept. 1 in San Francisco, Calif.
Of course, like everyone else, I’m expecting them to unveil the new iTouch 4g but it’s strange that if the iTouch’s new focus...

The next game in the works is looking pretty good so far. I won’t give any specifics because it’s still VERY early in development but I will say that we’re experimenting with retro-ish style (say, super nintendo era) graphics for gameplay.
I’ve been working on the main “mini game” within the game and plan on getting more done tonight (Wednesday is usually long...

Favorite Apps
A couple free apps that caught our attention:
Photo Transfer App
The name says it all, and much easier to use than iTunes syncing to get your photos on your device. And you can password protect them too… Biffy loves this one.
Simplenote
Simple note app that syncs between your computer, your web browser, and your iPhone/iPod - works great.

Teamwork
I got an iCal notification today reminding me that my Corona SDK 30-day trial will be over on Thursday. Of course, I’m not using the trial anymore but it made me realize that although Thursday marks 30-days using the Corona SDK, Biffy and I already have two full-blown games submitted (1 approved, 1 waiting)… that’s teamwork.
Started work on our next game last night… so far so good!

So far out of 19 ratings/reviews, Doodle Dash! has received 5 stars for every one of them… If you have the game and haven’t given this new version (1.2) a rating/review yet, PLEASE do! If you don’t have the game, let me know and I’ll give you a promo code so you can give an honest rating/review.

TUAW on Doodle Jump’s retina display update:
…also updates the graphics on the app to take full advantage of the iPhone 4’s Retina Display, so you can see the little doodle jumping up those platforms clearer and sharper than ever.
I’ve yet to see a side-by-side comparison of iPhone 4’s retina display vs. non-retina display on games (or anything for that...

Biffy was doing some brainstorming on her own last night and came up with some simple but very addictive game concepts that I’m excited to get to work on as soon as I finish what I’m working on now. One of her ideas from last night that I liked the most involves a UFO …

Brainstorming Phase
What can sometimes be a fun part of the game development process can also be one of the most frustrating as I’m finding out…

T3kd makes some great points in this article.
If Android is so good, why do even the manufacturers feel the need to throw a blanket over it? When Android itself is pretty enough to get rid of the blankets, Apple will continue to exert influence over the Mobile space.
Android hasn’t convinced us to start development for their platform just yet (and especially not their marketplace), so...

New Tumblr Blog
I’ve decided that since we’re so busy making awesome iPhone games, I don’t want to worry about maintaining a full-blown website so we’ll now be using the Tumblr blog to post news and updates.
I’ll be updating the URL’s in our game iTunes pages soon, as well as adding a button in each of our games that will display the mobile version of this Tumblr blog. Stay...
