1.3 Update is in the Works
Development has been temporarily paused for our new title’s we had in development in favor of working on the next update to Doodle Dash! (1.3)
With that said, we’re putting our heads together, really trying to make sure the “Halloween” update to Doodle Dash! comes out really great.
We want all the new Doodle Dash players to stay! (all 40,036 of you)
For a sneak peak, here’s what’s currently on the roadmap for 1.3:
- New Halloween Theme (monsters w/ costumes, darker “feel” to the environment, etc. Oh, and of course… candy corns!)
- Adding the option to play as a girl Dash
- Performance enhancements (we haven’t experienced any crashes while playing Doodle Dash! but apparently a few people have according to the reviews so we’re really going to work on optimizing for better performance)
- Tweak to fix Dash’s stiff arms
- An options page (for music toggle, theme selection, and…)
- Tilt control sensitivity settings (some reviewers were complaining about the game’s tilt controls being too sensitive while some were saying it’s not sensitive enough).
- Changing mystery boxes BACK to stars (they were stars prior to version 1.2).
- More OpenFeint achievements!
We also made a shout-out for suggestions on the OpenFeint boards, so if you have something you’d really like to see in 1.3… let us know!
Two exciting titles in the works; one directed by Biffy and the other by Jonathan… more arcade-style/pick-up-and-play/addictive action!
The next game in the works is looking pretty good so far. I won’t give any specifics because it’s still VERY early in development but I will say that we’re experimenting with retro-ish style (say, super nintendo era) graphics for gameplay.
I’ve been working on the main “mini game” within the game and plan on getting more done tonight (Wednesday is usually long dev night).
Biffy was doing some brainstorming on her own last night and came up with some simple but very addictive game concepts that I’m excited to get to work on as soon as I finish what I’m working on now. One of her ideas from last night that I liked the most involves a UFO …
Brainstorming Phase
What can sometimes be a fun part of the game development process can also be one of the most frustrating as I’m finding out…
