Major Accomplishment
When we first began work on our first title, Doodle Dash!, it’s no secret that our target keyword was “doodle” because of the popularity of that search term in the AppStore. Of course, there were endless pages of apps with “Doodle” in the title. Despite that, however, we decided to go for it anyway to see what would happen.
Fast forward to today.
Biffy just typed “doodle” in the AppStore search engine (on device) and Doodle Dash! came up as the 3rd listing, just two under Doodle Jump! (and just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock lately, Doodle Jump is one of the top games in the AppStore).
The app that appeared above Doodle Dash! had a 2 and a half star rating average with 80 ratings vs. Doodle Dash!’s 3-star rating average with 821 total ratings… with that said, we’re very happy with a 3rd place listing for the search term “doodle” in the AppStore :-)
Of course, it could very well change by tomorrow but for the time being, it’s a major accomplishment for us.
TUAW on Doodle Jump’s retina display update:
…also updates the graphics on the app to take full advantage of the iPhone 4’s Retina Display, so you can see the little doodle jumping up those platforms clearer and sharper than ever.
I’ve yet to see a side-by-side comparison of iPhone 4’s retina display vs. non-retina display on games (or anything for that matter)… but I’m dying to. Once I do see it (and get an iPhone 4), I’m sure all of our games are getting a nice, pretty update :-)
