1.3 Update is in the Works
Development has been temporarily paused for our new title’s we had in development in favor of working on the next update to Doodle Dash! (1.3)
With that said, we’re putting our heads together, really trying to make sure the “Halloween” update to Doodle Dash! comes out really great.
We want all the new Doodle Dash players to stay! (all 40,036 of you)
For a sneak peak, here’s what’s currently on the roadmap for 1.3:
- New Halloween Theme (monsters w/ costumes, darker “feel” to the environment, etc. Oh, and of course… candy corns!)
- Adding the option to play as a girl Dash
- Performance enhancements (we haven’t experienced any crashes while playing Doodle Dash! but apparently a few people have according to the reviews so we’re really going to work on optimizing for better performance)
- Tweak to fix Dash’s stiff arms
- An options page (for music toggle, theme selection, and…)
- Tilt control sensitivity settings (some reviewers were complaining about the game’s tilt controls being too sensitive while some were saying it’s not sensitive enough).
- Changing mystery boxes BACK to stars (they were stars prior to version 1.2).
- More OpenFeint achievements!
We also made a shout-out for suggestions on the OpenFeint boards, so if you have something you’d really like to see in 1.3… let us know!
Dragon’s Keep made 27 sales yesterday… pretty good considering it just came out and we’ve really done no promotion yet (still waiting to hear back from the FGOTD folks).
Doodle Dash! is still on Top 25 Free (that is, until I put it back to paid status after 5pm tonight). We’re very curious to see how sales will do after it goes back to paid status. As of right now, there are 37,622 players recorded on the global OpenFeint Leaderboard for Doodle Dash!
22,969 players on the Doodle Dash! Global Leaderboard… Wow. Can’t wait to see how well Dragon’s Keep and our upcoming titles do.
15,000+ Doodle Dash! players on the OpenFeint Leaderboard!
The Doodle Dash! FGOTD promotion has only been going on for 3 hours and 18 minutes and is showing more than 2400+ new players in OpenFeint so far… and that’s just the people who clicked ‘Enable OpenFeint’ when they first install the game.
So far it’s a much better response than I expected, so hopefully post-promotion sales will also do really good. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Doodle Dash! Featured on FGOTD Tonight
OpenFeint’s FreeGameOfTheDay.com will feature Doodle Dash! starting tonight (26th) at 5pm PST to 5pm tomorrow (27th). It’ll be interesting to see what kind of effect this will have on sales after the promotion.
I’m also interested to see how many more ratings/reviews the game gets; as of right now, there are 19 (all 5-stars). When I looked at a handful of recent FGOTD apps, they all pretty much have over 50 (most have way more than that). Perhaps Doodle Dash! will get enough good ratings/reviews/popularity to give it a boost in the AppStore search rankings.
If you don’t have Doodle Dash! consider getting it now while it’s free (I’m required to set the price to free before 10am the day of the promotion, though it won’t be featured on the FGOTD site until 5pm).
